Updated Gear List...

I recently upgraded/updated my camera gear for photography/videography.

I upgraded my camera from a Canon 50D to a Canon R6 Mark II. It can shoot full frame, APS-C (cropped) which I need with the lenses I have. The R6 came with a 24-105mm lens which works well but it doesn’t have a manual focus button like my Tamron 18-270mm lens. I use the Tamron when I am storm chasing. It can shoot video up to 4K60fps. It can also shoot slow motion (which is cool which trying to capture lightning. I’m still learning the capabilities of this camera and so far, I haven’t been disappointed.

My phone is a Samsung S24 Ultra and I’m using MotionCam Pro as the main camera app. MotionCam Pro is a paid camera app that allows you to shoot RAW. Yes, true RAW pictures and videos. The videos are huge because of the RAW data being captured. It is recommended you use an external SSD when capturing video.

I’m looking forward to sharing what I capture with my gear. Stayed tuned.

Vacation Bible School

This week, my wife and I have been helping with Vacation Bible School at church. We attend First Baptist Church in Opelousas, Louisiana. We have been going there for a couple of years now. My wife is leading the 3rd grade class and I’m going around getting pictures and video with my new camera. I bought a Canon EOS R6 Mark II mirrorless camera with a 24-105mm lens. The quality so far of the pictures and video (to include slow motion) has been impressive.

Tuesday evening, we had a nice storm pop up and I was able to capture some footage of some lightning. I still have to figure out some things on my camera, to include, manual focusing so I can get night time shots without the camera autofocusing. The lens itself doesn’t have the option to manual focus. My Tamron 18-270mm lens does but I need an adapter so I can use the lens (my next purchase).

Goodbye and Shalom

This is going to be my last post on this website. I am calling it quits before I get silenced and have to call it quits. Let me explain.

There are lots of conservative voices being silenced on social media right now. Since I am a conservative and the way things are heading, I will eventually be silenced. I am taking the proper steps to silence myself and leave on my own terms.

I have enjoyed posting on this site. I hope you learned something new to help you with your photography or editing your pictures.

I have enjoyed sharing my stories of hurricanes coming through, pictures taken, and everything in between.

Take care and Shalom.

Storm shots from a cold front

This past Friday, we had a cold front come through the area. With the cold front, we had some storms pop up and it produced a nice light show. I was able to get some video and pictures after it passed the house. Here are some of the still shots I was able to get. The first shot was a double rainbow I was able to catch when I first starting shooting.

We are having a strong cold front come through later on this week. The temperatures are going to be in the 60s for highs and 40s for lows. I’m hoping for storms so I can get more lightning shots.

I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful Halloween week.

No power and a cold front

For most of the week, we didn’t have power. Hurricane Delta caused wide spread outages all across the state of Louisiana. Most of the schools were out because of no power. In my area, we didn’t get power back on until Wednesday afternoon around 4 o’clock. I received a text from my wife as I was heading out the door from work to head home. We lost power again on Friday, but it didn’t last too long. I waited until yesterday to put the extension cords up for the generator to ensure we were good to go.

Friday night, we had a cold front come through where our temperatures got down into the low 50’s. It lasted a day. The temperature this morning is the low 60’s. Most of the week, I took a picture of the morning sky before heading to work. Here are some the pictures I shot.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week. Shalom.
