Disenrolled?

This is one of those rant posts I mentioned in my About Me section but it does have a happy ending.

I am retired military. I have been retired since 2008. I have not had a problem with Tricare since I got out. Yesterday morning, both my wife and I got emails stating we are disenrolled from Tricare. I log in to the Tricare site to see what in the world is going on. I’m kinda freaking out because of the penalties imposed by the last administration if you don’t have medical insurance. So I have to wait because they don’t open until 8:00 Central Time.

Side note - To ensure my phone signal doesn’t crap out on me, I have to drive, yes drive, away from my house because I live in the country and my phone signal has a tendency when I need it most to die on me.

Anyway, I get dressed and start my trek, literally, to find out what in the world is going on. I talk with the Tricare person and she is just as confused as I am. I have an allotment going to Tricare to pay for my insurance. Nothing has changed. The lady puts me on hold to figure things out. She initially told me I got canceled because I wasn’t paying enough and they tried to send it back. It sounded like a huge mess.

About five minutes pass by and she gets back with me. It seems I have been paying too much, I am going to get a refund, and everything is good to go. Everyone is enrolled again. I get some money back and no penalties.

Good stuff for what started out as what could have been a WTF kinda day.

Thanks for listening.

I’m outta here until next time.

John
