Photography Challenge

John here.

I was looking to jump start my photography because I have been in bit of a funk lately. I went looking on the internet for photography challenges. I found one on the Creative Live (link provided) website. They provide different subjects to spark creativity with video instruction for each one. The best part is that it is free. I did my first challenge today - Motion Blur.

I grabbed my camera and went out to the road and took 170 shots before I got the one I liked.

I am going to post the rest of the challenges as I do them. There are 13 of them to accomplish. In your field of interest, what do you do to get yourself out of a funk? I’m curious. Please leave a comment below. Like, share, and subscribe if you haven’t. I will talk to you later.

I’m outta here.

Busy week...

John here.

This past week has been pretty busy for me. One of the guys I work with started his vacation on Monday, so we were a man short. One of our guys couldn’t make it in on Monday, so we were two short.

On Monday, we had to unbox, write down the serial number and tag number, enroll, and put in carts 195 Chromebooks. It took us most of the day to get that done.

On Tuesday, we had to wire 22 carts. Each cart has 15 Chromebooks, so we had a total of 330 Chromebooks to wire up. It took us most of the day to complete that task.

Sometime during this time, the sink at my house decided to leak. I had to make three trips to Lowe’s before I finally got the correct pieces to fix the sink.

On Wednesday, three of us moved two labs worth of computers, about 50 computers, from one school to another. It took us most of the morning and two trips to complete the task. In the afternoon, one of our guys had to leave early because his daughter was sick.

Today, we were down to two of us to move 31 computers from one school to another. Our boss is one vacation, the one with a sick daughter couldn’t make it in. We got the computers, monitors, and accessories moved in one trip.

Tomorrow, I am hoping for a slightly quiet day at work. We shall see.

New Squarespace App

John here.

I recently received an email from Squarespace letting me know that I have been selected as a beta tester for their app. I have been too busy to test it out with a conference and Chromebooks at work. I thought why not try it today and see how it works. So far so good.

This new app is going to open a lot more possibilities for me to post more content instead of waiting until I can get to my computer.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and upcoming week.

I’m out of here.

Blog update...

John here.

I am making some changes to when updates are sent out for a while. I am going to send out updates on Monday mornings instead of when I create a blog post. It will be a weekly update on my blog posts. I will be able to make more posts and not spam your inbox.

This upcoming week is going to be a busy one for me. I am going to a conference in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Tuesday and won’t be back home until Thursday afternoon. I will not be posting on here but I will be posting pictures on Instagram and Twitter. If you haven’t subscribed to either of these, please do so. It would be greatly appreciated.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Ground to cloud lightning with stars...

John here.

Last night, my youngest daughter sent me a text asking if I was watching the lightning to the south (I wasn’t). I checked my radar and saw the whole coast of Louisiana had storms. I got dressed in my photography clothes (long pants, long sleeve shirt, and a hat to help ward off mosquitoes) and went outside to see what I could see. I noticed flashes but couldn’t see anything because of the trees in the yard. I walked to get a good view of the south and saw the lightning. It was strobeing, constant flashes. I got in my car and drove to my favorite area to spot storms. I took over 35 minutes of video, seven minutes of timelapse video and 84 still shots. This shot was the best of the batch, a ground to cloud bolt.

This particular edit was requested by my wife. She thought it would be cool to show the lightning and the stars so here it is.

I am going through my content to see what I have. I will be posting more soon.

Thanks for stopping by. Please like, comment, share, and subscribe if you haven’t.

Lightning from August 24 2015

John here.

My wife and I did a three hour storm chase one evening in August of 2015. I was able to capture several awesome strikes from that chase. Below is one of the best shots I’ve ever captured. I have several more to re-edit and share.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my blog. I greatly appreciate it. Please like, comment, and subscribe if you haven’t yet. Please share with your family and friends.
