Fall temps and a new coloring app

Fall has arrived here in southern Louisiana. This week our temperatures have started in the upper 40’s/low 50’s. We had a cold front come through earlier this week bringing us some severe weather. We had lots of rain, some lightning and thunder as the front moved through. I wasn’t able to chase because of work but I did get some footage before the bottom dropped out.

Last weekend, I was introduced to a coloring app called Happy Color (Android and IOS). It is a color by number app. Below are some of the pieces I have colored.

Warning - this app is quite addictive. I have enjoyed coloring and seeing what is going to be created. If you download the app, let me know what you think about it.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week. Shalom.

TouchRetouch App for mobile photography editing

One of my goals with this blog/website is to provide free resources for people who like to edit pictures on their phones. Today I will talk about the TouchRetouch App (Google) (IOS). I have had this app on my phone for a while now and I put it to the test yesterday, editing a lightning shot from this past weekend’s storm. Below is a before and after of the picture using the app.

If you are into using your phone for your whole photography process, I recommend this app.

365 Project and Instagram hiatus...

John here.

I added a new page on my website for the upcoming 365 project I am about to start on August 1st. With all of the traveling I do to work, sometimes while at work, and back home from work, I have several places where I can get pictures. I’m either going to use my Canon 50D or my Samsung Galaxy S10+ to take my pictures. I will start carrying my Canon with me (like I did all the time before) so I can get some shots with it. When I post the picture of the day, I will also post which camera I used and the settings I used on the camera. My last 366 project turned into a multi year project where I took over 1,100 shots in a row.

Next topic - Instagram hiatus. I am very active on Instagram. I’m probably too active on it. I have noticed here recently that my numbers are down quite a bit. When I usually post, I get decent numbers of people liking my work but now my numbers are way down. After doing a bit of research, I feel like I’m being “shadowbanned” which means my content isn’t going out to most of my followers. One of the suggestions to stop the shadowbanning is to stop posting content for a couple of weeks and then start back slowly. Well, I’m taking most of the month of August off from Instagram. So, starting August 5th, which is a Monday, I am going to stop posting on Instagram and put my content on here. I normally post a scripture of the day and a couple of pictures or videos depending on what I’m doing and seeing. Depending on how things are going will depend on if I continue with Instagram in September or not.

Day 365 of 2014

The above picture is from a ferry ride we took on New Years Eve 2014 while on a road trip to Galveston Texas. My family and I hopped in the car and drove the coast road in southern Louisiana to get to Galveston. No interstates at all heading west. We had to take a ferry and this seagull was on the boat and I was able to get a decent shot of it.

Sorry for the long post. I’m not normally this wordy. I hope you follow me on my 365 journey. I hope you decide to join me and have some fun.

I’m outta here.

John

New Squarespace App

John here.

I recently received an email from Squarespace letting me know that I have been selected as a beta tester for their app. I have been too busy to test it out with a conference and Chromebooks at work. I thought why not try it today and see how it works. So far so good.

Selfie at one of the venues a vendor was hosting.

This new app is going to open a lot more possibilities for me to post more content instead of waiting until I can get to my computer.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and upcoming week.

I’m out of here.

John
