Storm Chasing Chronicles #3

Storm Chasing Chronicles #3 is up on YouTube. I finished editing the video last night and was able to upload it over night (yes my internet is that bad). I hope you enjoy the footage I was able to get. Please subscribe to my YouTube channel if you haven’t yet.

Thanks for watching. I greatly appreciate it. If you haven’t subscribed to my blog, please do so. I’m hoping to have Hurricane Laura coverage when she hits us Wednesday night/Thursday morning.

Thanks for supporting me. I greatly appreciate it. Shalom.

2020 steps up the game

2020 has stepped up the game this month. Southern Louisiana now has two tropical systems heading for our coast. As of writing this post, Louisiana has Tropical Storm Laura and Hurricane Marco on the way. Hurricane Marco will hit first sometime on Tuesday. Southeast Louisiana is the target for this storm. The track has it moving west and I will probably get to see it. Here is the latest graphic from the National Hurricane Center.

The second system, TS Laura, is the one to watch. She has the potential to become a Category 2/Category 3 before landfall. If you look at the graphic below, south central Louisiana is on the east side of the storm. The east side of the storm is the dangerous side of the storm. If she comes in during the day, I will get to see it. Here is the latest on Tropical Storm Laura from the National Hurricane Center.

I will give updates during the week if we don’t lose power/cellphone usage. I’m hoping to get storm footage as each system comes through.

Have a wonderful week. Shalom.

TouchRetouch App for mobile photography editing

One of my goals with this blog/website is to provide free resources for people who like to edit pictures on their phones. Today I will talk about the TouchRetouch App (Google) (IOS). I have had this app on my phone for a while now and I put it to the test yesterday, editing a lightning shot from this past weekend’s storm. Below is a before and after of the picture using the app.

If you are into using your phone for your whole photography process, I recommend this app.

I got my pictures back!!!...

In yesterday’s blog post, I mentioned I lost my pictures from a storm chase the night before. I found a program called PhotoRec - Recover Deleted or Lost Files In Linux (I’m on Linux Mint 20). I used the program to scan my whole external hard drive to no avail (I had the incorrect settings). When I got up this morning, I scanned my SD card used to take the pictures. The first scan came up with nothing (wrong settings again). When I used the correct settings, it worked. I got my pictures back. The program even found pictures from earlier this year. I’m so stoked. Now I can edit and share the best shots from Saturday night. I will share later this week (maybe today).

Thanks for all the support. It’s appreciated.

What a weekend...

Oh, where to start? Friday, I was getting ready for work. I adjusted my pants and my back seized up on me. I have been having problems for almost two weeks now with having spasms. This time, it locked up on me. I tried to sit down on my bed and ended up in the praying position, unable to move. My wife brought me an ice pack, and it helped enough so I could lie down on the floor. After being there for about 20 minutes, I was able to stand up and go to my chair. I have been fighting this ever since. I could maneuver around better on Saturday. I could make it out of bed a tad easier this morning without having to roll out like yesterday.

In the afternoon, we had a nice thunderstorm come through the area. I shot video footage of the storm cells coming in and once it passed; I followed it in my car. There was lots of lightning, so I spent over an hour taking storm shots. I made it home, transferred my pictures onto my external hard drive like I do. Got up today, and those images aren’t on my drive. I took some of the best lightning shots and they aren’t there. Poof. I’m trying to recover the pictures. I hoping this works. We shall see.

I was getting footage with my phone. Here is one of the best shots I got. At least I have something to share.

Caught with my phone

Sorry for the long post. This isn’t my norm, but I wanted to get it out there. Please subscribe to my website or to my YouTube channel, if you haven’t. I would appreciate it.

Website Update

Those who have been following my blog/site for a bit, you will notice I made two changes. When you show up to my site, I now have a video instead of pictures. I also changed my blog format. I will shift from Facebook and Instagram to my website. There are too many distractions and I’m not getting any kind of traction, especially on Instagram.

One of my favorite photographers, Dave Morrow, has a video talking about getting off of social media, concentrating on your website and uploading to YouTube. I’m contemplating going that route soon. Here is the video I’m talking about.

Thanks for your support on this site. I appreciate it. My focus will be here showing my photography, videography, and other cool stuff.

Have a good one. Peace.
